Expression: practice what you preach
I wasn’t sure whether to call this one an expression or a proverb. I decided to just call it an expression, but one could argue that this expression speak to morality and that it is a maxim, which would make it a proverb. Either way, the meaning is the same regardless of how you decide to classify it. 😉
Tina: Can you believe Jen?
Barb: Why? What happened?
Tina: She’s mad at me because I borrowed her sweater without asking first.
Barb: So what? She always does that to you and you’ve never complained.
Tina: I know! That’s what I don’t understand.
Barb: So it’s OK for her, but not for you? She should practice what she preaches!
